As you might imagine, some of London’s finest restaurants and bars are based in the City of London, it’s a great place to dine in style. The variety of food available is mind boggling. There is plenty to choose from to suit any kind of budget at any time of day or night! Here is a selection of some of the notable places to eat and drink in the City of London:
The Sky Garden (8 minutes’ walk) – excellent food and panoramic views of the London skyline.
Coppa Club (20 seconds’ walk – it’s underneath Three Quays) – Italian restaurant with a central brass bar and views across the river.
Cau Restaurant @ St Katharine Docks (10 minutes’ walk) – delicious steak at a charming waterside location.
Roast @ London Borough Market (16 minutes’ walk) – offering traditional British dishes with a modern twist and city views. Borough Market is also a renowned London market and also one of the city’s oldest. Well worth a visit.
Cooking at home
If you’d rather do some cooking in the comfort of your own fully-equipped kitchen, the nearest supermarkets are listed below:
Waitrose @ St Katharine Docks – 0.7 Miles (13 minutes’ walk) – one of the larger supermarkets in the area offering a wider choice on organic and upmarket food. Open until 10pm weekdays, 9pm on Saturdays and 5pm on Sundays.
Tesco Monument Metro @ Eastcheap – 0.3 Miles (8 minutes’ walk) – closer supermarket with a very affordable price range. Slightly larger than the Express store at Tower Bridge. Open until midnight on weekdays, 8pm on Saturday and 5pm on Sunday.
Planet Organic @ Devonshire Sq – 0.8 Miles (16 minutes’ walk) – the UK’s largest fully certified organic supermarket. Open until 9pm but closed at weekends.
